Nancy's Dark Chocolate Sorbet
DESCRIPTION
This is an amazingly addictive recipe for dark chocolate sorbet. It's also Kosher for Passover.
INGREDIENTS
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- ⅔ cup Dutch-process cocoa
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 teaspoons espresso powder (optional)
- ½ cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
- 2 ¼ cups water
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
Instructions:
- Combine the sugar, cocoa, salt, espresso powder, chocolate chips, and water in a saucepan set over medium heat.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and cook, stirring frequently, until the chips and sugar are dissolved.
- Remove from the heat, and stir in vanilla. Transfer the mixture to a heatproof bowl (METAL IS BEST), and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled; MIX WHEN IT STARTS TO GET ICY ON THE EDGES, FREEZE overnight.
Notes
THIS MAKES about 3 cups of sorbet. *IF YOU HAVE KOSHER FOR PASSOVER LIQUOR OR VODKA, ADD ABOUT 2 TABLESPOONS, IT HELPS WITH CONSISTENCY.
