Moroccan Fish for Tisha B'Av
DESCRIPTION
Our family's traditional dish, for breaking the Tisha B'Av fast, includes this succulent cooked Moroccan fish in tomato, parsley and cilantro. It's a subtle, yet flavorful dish that despite its fancy appearance, is shockingly easy to make.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb fish (cod or other flaky white fish)
- 2 tomatoes (peeled, cored and diced)
- 3 spring onions (chop top and bottom parts off, dice the rest of the leaves.)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- ½ cup fresh parsley (finely chopped)
- ¼ to ⅓ cup fresh cilantro (finely chopped )
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- salt (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
INSTRUCTIONS
- Salt fish, let rest for 15 minutes, then rinse it to kasher it.
- In pan, fry garlic, and when it looks crisp add paprika, salt and tomatoes.
- Lay fish in pan.
- Cover fish fillets with parsley, cilantro and spring onion.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat.
- Cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
