Couscous - Basic
DESCRIPTION
INGREDIENTS
- 1 box couscous (5.8 oz box)
- 1 ¼ cup water
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon mace
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
INSTRUCTIONS
- Pour the couscous into a large bowl, add pepper, salt, turmeric, mace and oil and mix thoroughly. Cover the couscous with water and gently "knead" it with your hands to separate the grains.
- Cover and set aside for 30 minutes or until the water is absorbed. (If the grains are still hard, add a little more water and set aside.)
- Optional: Before serving the couscous, bring 1 cup of water to boil and dissolve a meat or chicken bouillon cube to make a broth that you pour over it. Serve warm.
