Pre-soak fava beans overnight or if not possible soak in hot water for about 1 hour. Rinse, slice each bean in two and remove hard shell which you discard.
In boiling salted water, add fava beans, paprika, cumin and oil. Reduce heat, simmer until fava bean is tender.
Serve warm or cold.
For Dip
Drain water and blend in food processor. Optional, add 1 clove garlic. Dip should be creamy (similar to hummus). Spread on plate, garnish with parsley or cilantro and drizzle with olive oil.
For Soup
Double spices and add 1 quart of water. Bring to boil then simmer for 30 minutes.
