Barley
DESCRIPTION
Barley is a cereal grain that can grow even in bad soil and poor weather conditions. It is also one of the seven species of food specific to Israel that we traditionally prepare for the holiday of Shavuot. It reminds us to be strong even in difficult times.
INGREDIENTS
- 11 ounces barley
- 4 cups water
- ¼ teaspoon salt
INSTRUCTIONS
- Bring water to boil in pot.
- Stir in barley and salt. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 10-12 minutes or until tender.
- Serve warm or cold.
