Old Fashioned Chocolate Sheet Cake
DESCRIPTION
This old-fashioned chocolate sheet cake is incredibly moist, and can be stirred together by hand if need be.
INGREDIENTS
Cake batter ingredients:
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 6 tablespoon oil
- ⅓ cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanillin sugar
- ¼ cup flour
- ½ cup walnuts, crushed (Optional:)
Frosting (optional):
- 8 tablespoon unsalted butter (or margarine if dairy-free)
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 6 tablespoon buttermilk or yogurt (dairy-free substitute: 1 tablespoon white vinegar with 1 cup soy or coconut milk. Let set 10 minutes)
- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix all Cake batter ingredients into a large bowl using spatula, whisk or fork. (optional: add crushed walnuts).
- Pour into an 8" round baking pan. and bake 25-30 minutes.
- (Optional: frosting) Beat all the Frosting ingredients and frost cake once cooled.
